HP Spectre: A Better Dell Adamo

Rob Enderle in Business Products on January 09

Rob Enderle in Business on August 25

The break-up of HP has come as a shock to many of us who cover the company, but it may not have been such a big surprise to the people inside the HP PC unit. It initially came across like HP was either going to sell the unit off or shut it down. That apparently isn’t the case and now that more of the strategy has been fleshed out, it suddenly looks interesting. Apparently, HP has figured out what has taken the industry decades to learn: Trying to both do enterprise backend products and user-focused products well is impossible. The two areas are too specialized and the result is a kludge.

Windows 7 Tablet Miss Creates A Mess For HP

Rob Enderle in Business on November 16

There are two problems you never want to have in a new product. One is that you build far more than the market wants to buy and the other is you build far less. With the Windows 7 tablet, HP has the second problem and rather than going into the fourth quarter with what could have been a surprising success, they are instead explaining why they missed the boat.
