Android may be growing quickly in terms of plain unit sales, but the Android Market is almost insignificant in sales. Apple’s revenue share is down for 2010, but still at a commanding 83%.

Apple’s App Store will soon cross 10 billion total downloads and the lucky person who downloads the 10 billionth app will get a $10,000 iTunes gift card.

Apple has been running a tight ship in the iPhone App Store –  too tight in many cases, inviting scathing criticism from users and developers. I’m sure you can appreciate the irony of Apple becoming a draconian enforcer of rules, after decades of thumbing its own nose at the establishment.

Apple’s iAds may be showing an overall better performance than the general mobile ad and they may be showing higher click rates, but they are apparently not performing well enough to sell applications.

Apple’s App Store now holds more than a quarter million apps for download. More than 50,000 publishers are submitting more than 600 new apps every day.
