Well, perhaps Google is much more than an annoyance for Apple now. According to NPD, Android phones have outsold the iPhone in the U.S. for the first time in the first quarter of this year. However, RIM is still in the lead and the big three in the smartphone OS market hold a comfortable lead over anyone else.

Hewlett-Packard announced that it has agreed to purchase struggling handheld maker Palm for $5.70 per share of Palm common stock in cash or an enterprise value of approximately $1.2 billion.

Adobe isn’t wasting any time: The company just announced that it has made available the first beta version of Flash to some Google Android developers. And Adobe is also addressing one of the key complaints dished out by Apple: Flash Performance.

T-Mobile is the most recent carrier rumored to be interested in making an enticing offer in order to be able to return to growth. However, the move may be shortsighted and very costly.
