How To Upload A Gif To Discord

If you’re a member of an online gaming community like Discord, you’ve probably already seen a fair share of Gifs. These animated images with sound are perfect for expressing yourself in text-based online communities—so much so that they’re almost expected! In fact, if you haven’t already noticed, most chat rooms and communities these days have their own specific Gif reaction. With that being said, using Gifs as your primary means of communication can get old pretty fast. That’s why we’re here to show you how to upload a Gif to Discord. You see, while it might seem like everyone and their grandma has their own personal Gif library stored somewhere on the internet, the truth is that finding and uploading a new one into Discord is often a difficult task to take on.

How To Upload A Gif To Discord?

Step One: Find Your Gif

When you’re ready to search for a new Gif, open your preferred browser and navigate to Giphy. From there, search for or click on the “Gif” tab. Next, you’ll want to sort the search results by “Most Popular” by clicking on the small “Popular” button underneath the search field. Once you’ve found a Gif you’d like to use, click the image to make it full-screen. This will allow you to see the Gif in its entirety and make selecting it a lot easier. If you’d like to use this Gif, copy the URL from your browser’s address bar. Otherwise, you can click outside of the Gif frame to close it.

Step Two: Copy the Gif’s URL

All that’s left to do now is to copy the URL of the Gif you’d like to use. Once again, open your browser and navigate to the Giphy search page. From there, click on the Gif you’d like to use and scroll down to the URL section. Note: If you’re using Google Chrome, you’ll need to click on “Copy image URL” instead of “Copy URL.” Once you’ve clicked on either option, a new tab will appear and the URL for the Gif will appear in your browser’s address bar.

Step Three: Paste the Gif URL into Discord

Now that you’ve successfully copied the URL of your Gif, you can head on over to your Discord chat room. Once there, click on the “Insert” button found above your text box. From there, select “Image” and click “Select Image.” Once the “Images” menu appears, click “Paste” and the URL of your Gif will appear in the menu. Once you’ve selected the Gif, you can customize its size and position in the Discord chat room by clicking the “Arrange” button in the lower-right corner of the screen.

Step Four: Preview and Save

Finally, you can preview and save the Gif. Once the Gif has loaded, click on the “Play” button in the upper-right corner of the screen. This will start the Gif animation. Once you’ve found a good stopping point, click on the “Pause” button. This will allow you to save the Gif to your computer. To save the Gif, you’ll need to use the “Save Image As” option on your computer.
