Mozilla is expected to discuss product details of the next version of its web browser today. The hardware accelerated Firefox 3.7 is already in an advanced alpha stage, and it is somewhat unclear to what “next” version Mozilla is referring to. Firefox 4.0?
As far as 3.7 is concerned, Mozilla will have to provide much more detail about the development process as well as new features that are being implemented as Microsoft is closing the gap to Mozilla with its IE9 browser and Google’s Chrome is quickly gaining traction. However, it would not be much of a surprise if Mozilla also provide detail about Firefox 4.0, which we should see come to market in mid to late 2011.
Mike Beltzner, who is in charge of Firefox at Mozilla, will hold the presentation on Air Mozilla at 3pm EDT today. Beltzner said that he asks for public participation and questions relating to the browser will be answered. So if you are interested in Firefox, this is an opportunity to be at the pulse to see the direction the browser is heading to.
“The goal of the presentation it to help everyone understand the product vision for the next version of Firefox, and what projects are underway to realize it,” Beltzner wrote on his blog. You can access Air Mozilla here.
