The Cayman Islands and Mali had the highest share of Internet usage through Apple’s iPad, relative to the entire web usage of those regions. During the first month of the iPad’s availability, iPad Internet usage was on the Cayman Islands and 0.21% in Mail – almost twice as high as in the U.S.
Following the Cayman Islands and Mali were Anguilla and The Netherlands with 0.20% share each, according to NetApplications. Aruba and the Virgin Islands were tied for fifth place with a share of 0.19%. The U.S. had a share of 0.12% with Hawaii being in the lead with 0.19%, followed by California (0.18%), Colorado (0.16%), Nevada (0.16%) and Nebraska (0.16%). At least in this ranking, the iPad was least popular in Wyoming (0.03%), Mississippi (0.06%), and West Virginia (0.06%).
NetApplications also broke the numbers down to cities and found that San Francisco had the highest usage share in the U.S. with 0.25%, followed by Grand Junction (Colorado) with 0.23% and Santa Barbara (California) with 0.19%.
Quantcast also released am iPad web usage survey last Friday and said that the web usage represented by the iPad has not been growing over the past few weeks, but has been relatively stable. The iPad accounted for a web usage of 0.09% on weekends and 0.06% on weekdays. Growth has been flat over the past four weeks. “Growth has slowed significantly,” Quantcast wrote.
