An iPhone Boosts Your Sex Appeal

If you are male and have a tough time finding a date, you may want to consider getting an iPhone. A British retailer said that more than half of their female customers said that they would be more likely to date a man if he owns an iPhone.

The reason? Simple, the perception that goes with owning an iPhone. 37% of respondents noted that an iPhone indicates that a man “more reliable.” One respondent went a step further and said what ownership of an iPhone means that a man is “obviously intelligent and well-off”. And there is even better news. That iPhone is almost a sure bet to get a second date as well, if he can manage to keep that perception alive during the first date and doesn’t screw up.

“There’s just something about a man who’s good with computers that makes him more trustworthy,” said Lucy, a 23-year-old primary school teacher from London, according to Phones 4u. “If he’s got the cash for an iPhone then he must be very good at his job, too.” So being a gadget geek does not mean that you have a dating disadvantage by default. Once you have attracted attention, for example by flaunting your iPhone, females believe you do a better job at grooming yourself, you have a good sense of humor and it’s easy to communicate with you.

However, it appears that the iPhone’s relatively high price tag mainly indicates you are financially secure. 35% of women in the survey said that what a man does for a living would affect their chances of a first date, while 7% don’t mind how their prospective mate puts food on his table. Phones 4u said that iPhone sales in the UK are near the 1 million mark, with 75% of the market attributed to males between the ages of 18 and 40. During 2009, the downloads of dating applications for smart phones in the UK soared past 250,000, according to the retailer.

There was no information on the sex appeal of the iPhone among U.S. women.

Conclusion: If you are among those who just have a hard time finding a date, then your best call may have been matchmakers such as It’s Just Lunch who do the legwork for you, in exchange for a service for around $2000 over a 12 month period. The iPhone may cost you the same, but you may get 24 months of dating promotion out of the device, not to forget that you can use it for phone calls and app downloads as well. Sounds like a good investment to me.
