Mozilla has confirmed the feature list and launch date of the first beta of Firefox 5.
According to the company, Firefox 5 Aurora will become Firefox 5 beta on May 17 and go final on June 21. It is unclear which new features will make it into Firefox 5 and it appears that Mozilla will use the new release schedule to simply release new features when they are ready, independent from the initially targeted version.
Today’s meeting minutes suggest that Mozilla is currently working on security issues, stability fixes as well as backouts. There have been no recent updates to the Firefox 5 UI and it appears that Mozilla is mainly targeting a new account manager, desktop app integration as well as an updated search bar. The mockups have been published at areweprettyyet.com.
There is, however, a feature list with feature priorities that is regularly updated.
