Microsoft today said it will officially unveil its human control interface for its Xbox 360 game console on June 13 at a press event at the upcoming E3 conference.
The event is spread across two days, an early evening demonstration on June 13 as well as a media briefing on June 14 in Los Angeles. Microsoft explicitly stated that the evening event is for attendees of “all ages” and the press event for media representatives aged 18 and above.

Project Natal is Microsoft’s version of a next-generation controller, which uses the human body as well as face recognition as key elements for controlling games and navigating through other digital content such as online video playback. Other than Nintendo and Sony, which bet on motion sensing controllers, Microsoft promises a new type of gaming experiences simply by using body movements.
For Microsoft, Project Natal is much more than an accessory for the Xbox 360. At a speech at the Executives Club of Chicago in 2009, CEO Steve Ballmer even described Natal as a “new Xbox” that would be released in 2010. In fact, the new technology, which will be enabled by a sensor that is placed on top of a TV, is generally seen as a substantial upgrade for the Xbox 360 and a platform refresh that will bridge the gap until 2013, when a new Xbox is expected to be released.
There has been no information how much the Natal interface will cost, but analysts and media reports seem to agree that the device will sell for less than $100.
