Samsung Showcases Galaxy Tablet

Samsung has unveiled its much anticipated Galaxy Tablet at the IFA tradeshow in Berlin, Germany.

The tablet has a 7” screen and runs an ARM Cortex A8 processor at 1 GHz as well as Google’s Android 2.2 Froyo operating system. The device has a screen resolution of 1024×600 pixel, 16 or 32 GB of memory, a 3.2 megapixel camera, WiFi and/or 3G, as well as a battery that is good for seven hours of video playback. Samsung said it will launch the Galaxy tablet in Europe and Korea in September, all other markets, including the U.S., will follow in October.

No pricing has been announced.

According to the manufacturer, the tablet will include a “Music Hub”, which will turn the device into a mobile music device. There is also a Media Hub, which provides access to movies and TV shows; the Reader Hub is Samsung’s version of an eBook store and will include initially more than 2 million different book titles, the company said.
