Briefly Noted – If we believe StrategyAnalytics, the iPad’s sales success will mainly draw from Apple’s existing user base. Only 2% of iPad buyers over the next 12 months will be people who do not own any other Apple product, the market research firm predicts. And it appears that half of those who have an iPad will get a second iPad soon.
Given the high brand loyalty among Apple users, it should not be too surprising that StrategyAnalytics found that 18% of Apple households intend to buy an iPad. The company said that “ownership of another Apple product, such as an iPod, Macbook or iPhone, is the strongest indicator of intention to buy an iPad. As an example, nearly a third of iPhone users in the US plan to buy an iPad during the coming year.”
Strategy Analytics also found that iPad owners are happy with their iPad and may buy another device soon. “Nearly half of households which have already bought their first iPad intend to buy another one within the next 12 months,” the market research firm said. “This is backed up by findings that multiple household ownership of iPads is already increasing rapidly: Respondents with at least one iPad report an average of 1.7 devices per household.”
