If you are too afraid finding out what may happen when you turn on your fancy e-reader for the first time, you can avoid that overwhelming experience by paying GeekSquad for it. Their agents will gladly turn on the device for you and charge just $30 for it.
The service is called Device Setup service and includes the initial configuration of the device (as far as this is necessary on an e-reader), download a firmware update if available, make sure the device is working properly and a consultation with tips and tricks.
As far as the reader is concerned, we always thought the configuration is rather limited and depends on individual preference, the firmware download is somewhat automated and virtually fool-proof, and we would hope that the device is working properly if you have just bought it. One can only imagine what tips and tricks Geek Squad will offer.
At $30, quite the bargain.
