dollar money treeMicrosoft today announced record FQ4 quarter results today. The company said that Windows 7 sales are brisk with 175 million licenses sold over the past 10 months.

Microsoft’s FQ4 revenue was $16.04 billion, a 22% increase from the same period of the prior year. Net income was $4.52 billion, an increase of 48%.

“This quarter’s record revenue reflects the breadth of our offerings and our continued product momentum,” said Peter Klein, chief financial officer. “The revenue growth, combined with our ongoing cost discipline, helped us achieve another quarter of margin expansion.”

Microsoft said that strong performances were delivered by Windows Server, Xbox, and Bing, which achieved its 13th consecutive month of share gain. Windows 7 licenses hit 175 million, which means that Microsoft is selling about 17.5 million licenses per month on average. According to Microsoft, Windows 7 has now a market share of about 16%.  It took the company 30 months to take Vista to 180 million licenses.

“We saw strong sales execution across all of our businesses, particularly in the enterprise with Windows 7 and Office 2010,” said Kevin Turner, chief operating officer of Microsoft. “Our transition to cloud services is well underway with offerings like Windows Azure and our Business Productivity Online Services, and we look forward to continuing our product momentum this fall with the upcoming launches of Windows Phone 7 and Xbox Kinect.”

For the entire fiscal year ended June 30, 2010, Microsoft reported revenue of $62.48 billion, a 7% increase from the prior year. The net income was $18.76 billion.
