It is a problem John and it disproportionately affect general users who generally don't know what plugins are and the fact that they are all oddly enabled by default on any fresh Firefox install.

For example, if you asked me a week ago, I wouldn't know that there was 10 plugins enabled on my Firefox by default including nonessential plugins like Nvidia, Adobe update, Google Update, Real Player, Java Console etc etc.

That general user would then complain about Firefox eating up memory(b/c it was), then we would have a condescending Firefox fanatic *ahem* making unhelpful snide comments.
