Love And Magic Sell 3 Million iPads In 80 Days

The iPad is much more magical than we thought it was. Apple today said that it has sold 3 million iPads in 80 days. Analysts may have to adjust their iPad sales estimates.

I promise, this was the last time I used the phrase “magical” in combination with Apple’s iPad. His Jobsness himself today announced that his iPad has sold 3 million units in just 80 days. The love the iPad has to deal with every day is simply beyond control.

“People are loving iPad as it becomes a part of their daily lives,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more people around the world, including those in nine more countries next month.”

Apple said there are now 11,000 (exciting) apps for the iPad people can fall in love with. Plus “iPad will run almost all of the more than 225,000 apps on the App Store, including apps already purchased for your iPhone or iPod touch.”

We admit that we are just a bit jealous, but we are truly happy for Jobs. But will Apple be able to deal with the love the iPhone 4 will get? Maybe Apple should share the love and love us back with a big hug.

On a serious note, it will be interesting to see how analysts will adjust their sales estimates for the iPad and how this will, inevitably, impact sales predictions for netbooks. Within 80 days, Apple has exceeded predictions for the entire year and saying that Apple will be selling 5 million units until the end of the year may be a bit low.

Forrester’s last week estimate of 3.5 million tablets (not just iPads) for the entire year may need a slight correction.
